What If
Jason Taylor © 2005

What if tomorrow
Were to never come
And the descent of night
Wasn’t followed by the rising sun

If only there was a way
To make yesterday right now
It would balance out the loss
Of a day gone with no avow

The next twenty-four hours
Will never exist to be seen
And cannot be imagined
Not even in your wildest dream

Who would have thought
That the future wouldn’t come about
One minute being such a certainty
And the next moment left without

It revoked its promise
From everything that depended on it
It never gave its word
So it never had to commit

Did you put off today
For a day that never came
Your thoughts moved forward
But your actions never changed

Today is the last day
And it shall be again
So the time won’t come
To do what you’d intend

So live each day to the fullest
Take in all its sights and sounds
Never taking it for granted
Tomorrow won’t always come around
